Dear Families,
As we approach the end of this year, I would like to share with you a message inspired by a story you may already know: the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. If you haven't heard it yet, I invite you to look it up. Although this story is often associated with Christmas, its message transcends this time of year and invites us to reflect on the value of differences.
Rudolph was a different kind of reindeer. His bright red nose made him the object of rejection and ridicule. However, what at first seemed like a weakness became his greatest strength. On a dark and stormy night, when Santa Claus needed a special guide for his sleigh, it was Rudolph who led the way and became a hero.
This story leaves us with a powerful lesson: our differences, what makes us unique, can be our greatest strength.
As a community, we have a responsibility to pass this message on to our children and the children we work with. It is essential to teach them that diversity enriches our lives and that each person has a unique value to contribute.
Rudolph's story also reminds us of the importance of acceptance. Instead of fearing or rejecting what we do not understand, we must learn to value differences. Every child, with his or her special light, deserves to be celebrated for who he or she is.
I invite you to close this year with a renewed commitment to building a more inclusive society. Let us teach our children to embrace diversity, to recognize the brilliance in others, and to be advocates for acceptance and respect.
Just as Rudolph found his or her purpose and place, every child can find their way when they feel loved, supported, and valued. May our example and our words be that guide that lights their path toward a future full of possibilities.
With admiration and gratitude,
Gretel Debasa
